  • Welcome to the New OREMS!

    Last Update: 2012-08-17 08:54:50

    Hi everyone,

I'm happy to report that Phase 1 of the New OREMS website is now complete and is ready for use! Thank you to everyone who provided feedback throughout this process, particularly all the members of the Communications Team.

Please be sure to bookmark this New OREMS website. This site will be updated regularly, and old OREMS will no longer be updated. Please discontinue using old OREMS as it does not contain up-to-date information.

Additional content will be added as it becomes available from various managers and other employees in the Office of the Registrar. Here are some other important notes regarding new OREMS:

    1) PROGRAM SEARCH: To use the New OREMS search function, start typing the program code or program name. As you type, a list of potential program matches should appear in a list below the search window. When you see your desired program, click on it, and you will be taken to the appropriate program page.

    2) Research Documents: The research documents are currently being updated and finalized. Once completed, they will be uploaded to the new OREMS site.

3)The new Calendar Requests form is unfortunately having some technical difficulties. Until Marketing is able to fix it for us, please use the old form: http://registrar.humberc.on.ca/ride/request/calendar.html

If you are experiencing any technical issues, or have any questions, concerns or content addition ideas, please feel free to contact me, and I'll do my best to help you.

We appreciate your patience, and hope you enjoy the new site!

    Sincerely,

    Mike Berg

  • Update: Tuition Fee Payment Policy Revisions

    Last Update: 2015-04-02 17:01:48

We have an update regarding the tuition fee payment policy revisions that were originally communicated to you several weeks ago. We received some great feedback from across the department, which resulted in several changes to our messaging. Thank you as always for your constructive feedback.

Today, the attached tuition fee payment message will be sent to returning students. A similar message will be sent to new students next week.

Both messages will include the new deposit information, but also primarily direct students to www.humber.ca/fees for detailed fee information (which should be uploaded to the webpage by April 10, 2015). In the interim, the Fees webpage will outline the tuition deposit information, similar to the student message.

The Fees Document, which is being finalized by the Fees team, will also be uploaded to www.humber.ca/fees in the very near future. This document will outline the specific fees for every program and other critical fee information.

    NEW STAFF RESOURCES:

    1. PowerPoint Document: At the following link, you can see a PowerPoint presentation that we have made that summarizes the revised tuition fee payment policy. This is an internal staff document, and will not be sent to students.

    2. FAQ Document: This internal document will continually be updated, as questions arise from staff/students. Please ensure to access the link to ensure you have the most up-to-date file. A FAQ document will also be created for students and uploaded to the Fees website. If you receive a similar question several times from students, and believe it should be added to this document, please let your Manager and myself know.

    3. MTCU Tuition News Release: Read the Ministry’s explanation of the new tuition rules here.

    Dear Student,

Assuming you have fully paid your fees, your next step for preparing for the Summer 2015 semester is to create your timetable by registering into your courses on MyHumber.

Registration dates are program specific, so please check the registration calendar at http://registrar.humberc.on.ca/registration/summer2015/summer2015.html to determine when your registration is scheduled.

Several registration learning resources are available on the MyHumber login page that help make timetable registration easy:

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING BUSINESS SCHOOL PROGRAMS' REGISTRATION

Students in Business Management, Business Marketing, Business Admin, Accounting 2 year and 3 year, Law Clerk and Paralegal do not need to see their PC to be registered for the Summer 2015 semester as long as they are a current student in Winter 2015 or if they have been out of their program for less than 1 year. These students can email registration@humber.ca directly and follow these directions:

    • Include student number and first and last name
    • Include program and semester they would like an offer for
    • Indicate whether they want to return part-time or full-time. (Full-time students select before part-time students and have to pay fees before registration)

Someone in records will then process the email and set up an offer for the student and email them back with further direction.

  • CCPT Information

    Last Update: 2014-11-03 09:43:52

Placement test registration has recently undergone some changes,  which are effective immediately for the Winter 2015  and Summer 2015 semesters.

Placement tests are now known as Computerized College Placement Tests (CCPT). Students can still register for either In-Person or Online placement tests. There is NO fee for placement tests. Students are strongly encouraged to register themselves into their placement tests using the steps outlined in the new student learning resource for placement test registration.

Students start the CCPT registration process by visiting the Test Centre’s CCPT webpage here: http://humber.ca/testcentre/placementtesting.  Students are directed to this page via our CCPT reminder messages.

Students access their program-specific testing date/time options via FlexReg by clicking on their program in the following PDF document: http://registrar.humberc.on.ca/ride2011/doc/ccpt/CCPTCodeList.pdf. This PDF document is found on the Test Centre website when students click “Register Now!” under the Online or In-Person placement testing pages.

An informative “How To Register for Placement Tests” video and learning resource PDF document have been created for students, and can soon be accessed here: http://www.humber.ca/testcentre/videos/placementtesting.  The direct link to the student guide for booking placement tests can be found here: http://registrar.humberc.on.ca/ride2011/doc/ccpt/StudentGuideforCCPTReg.pdf.

If a student adamantly states that they are unable to register for placement tests, staff can register students via SFAREGS. A staff ‘How-To guide’ has been created, and can be accessed here:  http://registrar.humberc.on.ca/ride2011/doc/ccpt/StaffGuideforCCPTReg.pdf.

A list of CRNs for placement test registration via SFAREGS can be found here: http://registrar.humberc.on.ca/ride2011/doc/ccpt/PlacementSessionCRNs.pdf.

  • RO Penny Drive Coin Count Contest

    Last Update: 2012-11-27 09:53:12

    Hello all,

This is the last week to bring in your pennies for the Office of the Registrar's United Way campaign. The jars will be sealed at the end of Friday, November 16th for our upcoming contest next week*. See below for details!

RO Penny Drive Coin Count Contest for the United Way

Do you think you can guess how much money we have raised in the RO's Penny Drive jars at both the North and Lakeshore campus?

If you guess correctly, you will win one of 2 great Humber Athletics sweaters!

To help with your guesses, we will be posting photos of the sealed jars on Friday.

    $1 - 1 Guess

    $3 - 4 Guesses

    $5 - 7 Guesses

You can purchase guesses as of Monday, November 19th until Friday, November 23rd.

To make your guesses, email Mike Berg (mike.berg@humber.ca) or see him in C101.

    Other Contest Rules:

    - In the event that no one correctly guesses the exact amount of money in the jars, the two employees that guessed the closest will win the sweatshirts.

    - One employee can not win both sweatshirts.

    - *Pennies can still be dropped off to Mike Berg at the North Campus or Tanis Boak at the Lakeshore Campus, but they won't be counted towards the total in the jars after Friday, November 16th.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you and good luck!

    Sincerely,

  • Helpful Phone Numbers List from Old OREMS

    Last Update: 2012-11-12 10:02:39

    Hi all,

We have uploaded the old OREMS Helpful Phone Numbers list. It can be accessed here: http://registrar.humberc.on.ca/ride2011/oldoremshelpfulphonenumbers.php. This may be useful to you for phone numbers such as Guelph-Humber's Information Desk, some of the food service options on campus, lost and found, etc. I tried to confirm the accuracy of most of the numbers on this list, but should you find any errors, please feel free to let me know.

IMPORTANT: Humber's Official Frequently Called Numbers list has most of the phone numbers that previously existed on the Old OREMS list. It can be accessed here: http://www.humber.ca/frequently-called-numbers. We strongly recommend that you use this list as your main reference for phone numbers as the other list will not be frequently updated.

Also, Fax Numbers have been removed from the Helpful phone number lists. Should you receive a request for a specific department's fax number, please forward the request to the appropriate department and they can provide their up-to-date fax number.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

    Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Mike Berg
Manager, Communications, Office of the Registrar
